Kutless concert

The kids LOVED it! If you know us at all you know we love a good concert! This past Saturday we went to the Kutless concert in Concord. It was aw-e-some!

I heart summer!

Reason #248 why I love summer:

I had planned on taking her to the park in Mooresville but it was rainy so we went with plan B.

The day that didn't go as planned....

So you know how I'm always posting on here about going places with the family and we always have a great, awesome, fun time? Well, just so you know I am human, things don't always go as planned.
On fathers day morning we loaded up 3 vehicles FULL of stuff, headed to the mountains for a picnic and fun day with family and friends. About 15 minutes into the trip it started to rain, still we pressed on, surely it wouldn't last ALL day, I mean how many times does it rain for a whole entire day? Ha, well we get to the mountains and it's pouring rain, we stop at a gas station and the man working there said "did yall hear they are calling for severe storms?" At this point we had to call the trip a disaster and head home. We had 12 coolers of food for a picnic but decided to stop at Pizza Hut in Boone and have lunch. We got there about 11am and they don't start serving the buffet til noon. We had NOTHING better to do, since we'd planned to be gone an entire day anyway we just sat in the restaurant for an hour til they opened the buffet. It was nice, we had time to talk, and enjoy our time together even though it was pouring down outside! We ate our lunch and all 14 of us loaded up in the vehicles and headed back home....even though it wasn't the day we had planned it still wasn't so bad, and we even learned a valuable lesson - ALWAYS check the weather before leaving the house!
I'm sure that will be a father's day we will never forget!

Kylin turns 6!

HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY Princess Kylin!
I made her tie-dye pancakes WITH sprinkles for breakfast!!
Of course most days she doesn't wake up til lunch time so we may have to throw those out and make tie-dye sandwiches! ha.
She has had a whole week of birthday fun....I haven't worked all week so we've been on the go for the past 3 days, non stop fun! Today we are heading to M-ville (that's what Ky wants to do for "her day") She wants to go to Super Target, and the park (they have a really cool park & splash park)
Not sure what else we'll do. Layton has all star practice tonight so we can't celebrate with the family til tomorrow night...I think she's ok with that! Then Saturday we are heading to Concord Mills to finish off HER week of celebrations! Happy Birthday Kylin Aubree I LOVE YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!

Take a kid fishing day

The town of Newton sponsored several event around town to promote families spending time together....I'll give ya one guess which one we did! FISHING - of course!

Ky is more worried about her hair than the fish! She is such a little diva!
She fished for about 2 minutes then she was DONE!

This little guy didn't even register on the scale!

They had prices for "the most fish caught", "the biggest fish", and "the smallest fish" Layton won the biggest and the most, he could have won the smallest but they didn't want to give him all 3 prices! He won 2 new fishing poles! Of course he loved it!

Fathers Day cookout

My parents had a Fathers Day cookout at their house for my dads side of the family. It's great that they all live close enough we can get together for special occasions.

It stormed right before the cookout so everything was wet but at least the rain had stopped by party time!

The first week of summer 2011.

The kids have stayed with mom all week. She brought them home yesterday afternoon. They walked in the door and 5 minutes later were saying they were bored! We always walk around the neighborhood at night to pick blackberries and get some exercise. I was pulling Ky in the wagon walking along talking to Joey and Layton then we look back and see this - Kylin asleep!! It was so funny!! Poor baby must have been so tired!
The last few months have been so busy for us, running every night, school, ballgames, etc. Now that they finally get a break they have no idea what to do with all their free time!

Summer 2011

I could not be more proud of my 2 kids....they both received the Principal Award for their classes! I'm soooo proud of them, I couldn't ask for more! Layton and Kylin - I LOVE YOU SO MUCH and I'm super proud of both of you!!! Keep up the awesome work!
