Way to go ECC All Stars!!!
Eastern Catawba County ALL STARS
Top Gun Tournament 2011
2nd place
WAY TO GO BOYS!!!! I am so proud of Layton and his team. Saturday they played 3 games back to back with no breaks in between. It was also 98 degrees!! They did awesome, won the first 2 games then it came down to game #3, after 6 hours on the field, came down to a tie game and the Mnt View team scored to win. It was a very exciting day! I never thought I could handle sitting in the heat for over 6 hours watching ball but put my little man out there and I'd sit there for days! We had a tent in the shade and I drank probably 7 bottles of water, diet coke and anything else I could get my hands on that was cold! I honestly do not know how the boys went that long in the heat and still managed to play their best. Did I mention it was 98 degrees and they played 6 hours? haha By the way, a huge thanks to nanny and poppa for being there for every game thru the year, for dealing with the heat, and being there for their grandson. (anyone that knows my dad knows he wouldn't sit in the heat for just anyone!) It means a lot to have that support from family!!
That was the last of the tournaments for our team, as of July 31st we have several players that were too old to play, including Layton. It was awesome for him getting to know the boys on his team, and form friendships. I got to know some of the parents too and they are all great. We had a great summer with these boys and their parents, I'm sad to see it end. But I know in our small town we will see these people again, probably on the ball field again next year!!
Layton was given a pretty cool opportunity to play fall baseball, but by the time he got the offer we had already signed him up for soccer in the fall. We are leaving the decision up to him, he has to make it completely on his own! It's very hard to sit back and watch him struggle with what he wants to do.....I mean to a 9 year old this is a MAJOR decision, his first real decision he has to make without any help or advice from his parents. I want to tell him all the pros and cons but I'm not, I want him to do what he wants to do. I know he'll love either one, and he's good at both....so we'll see what HE decides!!

Happy Anniversary
Today we celebrate 10 years of marriage!!
I can't believe it's been 10 yrs. it really, really doesn't seem that long!
I'd post a pic of our wedding day but WAY back then there was no digital and I don't have a scanner.
I love our life together. I couldn't ask for a better husband and father! We celebrated our 10th with the cruise this past May. We went out to eat Monday night while my parents kept the kids. So tonight we just stayed home, rode bikes with the whole family, watched Big Brother, and now we are chillin getting ready to go to sleep! This is the good life!

Green Smoothie
I've seen these on other blogs and websites. I never tried them, always thought it would be gross. This morning I gave it a whirl and YUMMY!!
I'm not sure what "normal" green smoothies have in them I just threw some stuff in the blender.
Here's what I used:
1 pear
1 pear
1 banana
1 kiwi
A couple hand fulls of spinach
Almond milk
Flax seed

Weekend re-cap
Friday the kids and I were lazy, we slept til after 11am! The kids didn't wanna go swimming, and I didn't really wanna take them! It was about 98 degrees but felt even hotter! You know it's HOT when swimming doesn't even sound fun. I wasn't about to do anything outdoors so that limited our choices.
We finally decided to go bowling, the mall, and indoor putt putt. We had lunch at Chick fil A.
After that I dropped the kids off at home with Joey then went to get groceries. Joey fixed hamburgers on the charcoal grill for supper and they were YUMMY!! We just chilled at home Friday night, it was the first night in a LONG time we just stayed at home with nothing to do.
Saturday Layton was in a baseball tournament and it was the hottest day of the year so far. Thank goodness it rained about 2 hours before his game and cooled it off a lot, it was still HOT! His game was supposed to start at 4pm, we had to be there at 3pm...the game didn't start til after 6 and didn't end til almost 8pm. We were starving so we went to a little diner with mom and dad to grab some grub. I had promised Layton we would go to Walmart to get fishing lures so we didn't get home til late. We were all wore out....and hot sweaty messes!
Sunday mom and I had a wedding shower for my cousin, Kara who is getting married in Sept. That took all day to get set up, get the food ready, etc. Mom did most of the work, I just did veggies and fruit. Joey and Layton went back to the tournament to watch the remaining teams play for 1st place. We got home about 7:30pm and Kylin wanted to ride bikes around the block....shew, what a weekend!! I'm ready for Monday!
