Way to go ECC All Stars!!!
Eastern Catawba County ALL STARS
Top Gun Tournament 2011
2nd place
WAY TO GO BOYS!!!! I am so proud of Layton and his team. Saturday they played 3 games back to back with no breaks in between. It was also 98 degrees!! They did awesome, won the first 2 games then it came down to game #3, after 6 hours on the field, came down to a tie game and the Mnt View team scored to win. It was a very exciting day! I never thought I could handle sitting in the heat for over 6 hours watching ball but put my little man out there and I'd sit there for days! We had a tent in the shade and I drank probably 7 bottles of water, diet coke and anything else I could get my hands on that was cold! I honestly do not know how the boys went that long in the heat and still managed to play their best. Did I mention it was 98 degrees and they played 6 hours? haha By the way, a huge thanks to nanny and poppa for being there for every game thru the year, for dealing with the heat, and being there for their grandson. (anyone that knows my dad knows he wouldn't sit in the heat for just anyone!) It means a lot to have that support from family!!
That was the last of the tournaments for our team, as of July 31st we have several players that were too old to play, including Layton. It was awesome for him getting to know the boys on his team, and form friendships. I got to know some of the parents too and they are all great. We had a great summer with these boys and their parents, I'm sad to see it end. But I know in our small town we will see these people again, probably on the ball field again next year!!
Layton was given a pretty cool opportunity to play fall baseball, but by the time he got the offer we had already signed him up for soccer in the fall. We are leaving the decision up to him, he has to make it completely on his own! It's very hard to sit back and watch him struggle with what he wants to do.....I mean to a 9 year old this is a MAJOR decision, his first real decision he has to make without any help or advice from his parents. I want to tell him all the pros and cons but I'm not, I want him to do what he wants to do. I know he'll love either one, and he's good at both....so we'll see what HE decides!!
